Well, if he's Johnny Fink, he removes the broken skylight on his very tall, two story shop... the broken skylight that has been allowing rain to pour into his work area ever since the high winds of last month tore it off. And then he replaces it.

The broken skylight removal begins...

He also plans to replace the other 3 skylights

With a plastic tarp, Johnny had directed the water pouring in from the missing skylight into a big barrel, then through a hose down to the meat room floor drain

|
Across the field from the shop, an eagle sat, paying no attention to the man on the roof

Meanwhile, the man on the roof was taking off the broken panel pieces.

... and tossing them over the other side where they slid to the ground...

I took a photo of him coming down, but he later went back up with a new skylight and installed it.

The next day, when I went out to do chores, I thought someone had left the light on upstairs of the shop. I went upstairs and saw it was the new skylight letting light in. It was so bright! The others really look to need replacing now. Later, Johnny did the same thing... thought a light was on upstairs.
He has now bought replacement fiberglass panels for the other skylights and I suppose will be installing those during the next break in rainy, windy weather.
Johnny Fink, the Roustabout, 80 years young on January 21st.
Happy Birthday, Johnny!

ReplyDeleteFinks seem to start early and last a long time. When Kevin was about three I was taking a child development class. The day we learned that a kid Kevin’s age could climb three steps and hit large colored pegs with a hammer, I came home to find him on the barn roof nailing down shingles
