Spring has Sprung

The weather has warmed a bit, dried a bit, and work has multiplied a lot. It must be spring. Here are photos to celebrate the season.

This mini orchid has been blooming for over a month. I wrote a blog post awhile back about our inheriting dozens of orchids in January from friends when they had to move and could not take their orchids with them. This is the first one to bloom for me. Another is in bud!

The avocado tree in the greenhouse was in bud for this photo and now the flowers are open... and closed... and open. That's a story for another post, too. I'm way behind on telling stories!

A few of the orchid cactus in the greenhouse have bloomed with many more in bud. Another future post...

The Flowering Maple (Abutilon) is blooming continually in the greenhouse.

Many of these Spring Azure butterflies have been flitting about outside...

A few days ago, it snowed! Cherry petals, that is...

Today I took a photo of this Orange-crowned Warbler in the cherry tree. I took lots of photos of birds in the cherry tree but mostly I missed the birds!

Lots of tulips and narcissus are blooming...

When the rain stopped for a day, California Quail took the opportunity to take dust baths in the driveway.

Three days before Easter, the first goat kidded. Here is one of her newborn kids...

On Easter, I put the horses out on grass in front of the goat barn. Here Nightingale grazes on the other side of the fence from the horse wagon full of flowers...

Mr. Smith trims the grass around the manure spreader aka potato planter...

Nightingale and her mom Jessie Anne, the palomino, graze with Mr. Smith in the background...

All three horses in front of the tulip wagon...

3 horses, tulips, and Spirit Mountain...

Johnny took this photo with his camera of "Lizzy's eggs". His grandma always dyed eggs in onion skins to give them this pretty brown color, so Johnny does it every year, too...

Happy Spring! Happy Easter!
