The corn in our garden is already knee high and it's not yet the 4th of July! What a year.
In between rain showers today, I took photos of the garden. But first I took a photo of one of the cauliflower heads that grew over winter, nicely blanched by their wrapping leaves. I don't remember ever having over-wintering cauliflower before. Most of it is now blanched and in the freezer. I saved some out for supper.
I was going to post these pictures on facebook, but so many of my facebook friends have truly elegant gardens with picture perfect produce that I decided to just do a short post on my blog and crop the photos to leave out the weedier, messier areas. The cauliflower was in raised beds, which I have not photographed because they are overgrown and... well... messy. The pots of lettuce in front of the house are messy, too. But we'll be eating peas and lettuce... and cauliflower... from the messy areas tonight.
What a strange year so far!
